EDITORIAL SERVICES

I’m obsessed with stories—whether I’m writing them, reading/watching them, or simply analyzing how they work. I see storytelling as a puzzle, and I love figuring out what a story is trying to be and how to get it there.

And as an author myself, I know what it’s like to feel stuck or like the story isn’t quite there. I wrote and rewrote my debut novel, The Haunting of Lavender House, countless times, studying craft and finding the right balance between horror and romance. That novel went on to secure literary representation in two months and sold at auction to a Big Five publisher (HarperCollins).

Now I want to take what I’ve learned and help you.

My strengths as an editor include blending genres, crafting atmosphere, and brainstorming ways to elevate your story. I particularly love plotting (I’ll be your spreadsheet sidekick, if you want).

As for my feedback style, I am honest but always kind. I’ll give you actionable feedback to improve your story but also be your ultimate cheerleader.

Genres I work with: I specialize in Horror, Gothic, Romance, Women’s Fiction, and Fantasy (including genre blends!), but I’m open to other genres as well if you think we’d be a good fit.

EDITORIAL SERVICES

  • $0.01 per word (e.g. 80,000 word manuscript = $800)

    A manuscript evaluation provides a professional critique of your novel’s overarching story elements, such as plot, pacing, character arc, tension, stakes, and theme. This service offers big-picture feedback to help you strengthen your story before your next revision, without the cost of a full developmental edit.

    What’s included:

    • A 5-7 page editorial letter outlining strengths and key areas for improvement (no in-line comments in manuscript)

    (Feeling stuck? Your manuscript doesn’t need to be complete for this service! I’ll assess what you have and include recommendations for moving forward in my edit letter)

  • $0.015 per word (e.g. 80,000 novel = $1,200)

    A deep-dive edit focused on overarching story elements, such as plot, pacing, character arc, tension, stakes, and theme that also includes recommendations on improving craft and in-line comments throughout your manuscript. This is the most in-depth content-focused edit, offering personalized feedback to strengthen your storytelling and writing craft.

    What’s included:

    • An 8+ page editorial letter with strengths, areas for improvement, and specific suggestions for revision

    • In-line comments throughout your manuscript

    • A 60-minute follow-up call to discuss my feedback

    • Reading recommendations to support your craft and revision (if relevant)

  • $95 (up to 5,000 words; +$0.015 per word beyond 5k); Two passes

    I’m a hardcore plotter and always outline my novels before drafting. With this service, I’ll critique your plot outline, focusing on overall story progression, pacing, cause-and-effect relationships, and character arc. 

    Required: An outline of some form, e.g. a basic beat sheet, bullet point list of events, long synopsis… whatever works best for you.

    What’s Included:

    • In-line comments on your outline

    • a 1-2 page edit letter with strengths and suggestions for improvement

    Don’t have an outline you love or want to try my recommended methods? I’ll send you links to methods I love to guide you in creating an outline, then give you feedback on the result.

  • $0.0125 per word (e.g. 80,000 word manuscript = $1000)

    Want a detailed overview of your story to guide revisions? A story map is a spreadsheet that tracks all the core elements of your story per scene, such as character arc, themes, and subplots, etc. It’s an excellent way to spot gaps and areas to strengthen.

    What’s Included:

    • A spreadsheet breaking down the core elements of your story

    • A 60-minute follow-up call or text conversation to discuss the map and my recommendations for revisions

  • $80/hour

    A customizable consultation call tailored to your story’s needs.

    Perfect for:

    • Brainstorming ideas

    • 60 minute Zoom call

    • Pre-call review of up to 2 single-spaced pages describing your concerns, revisions, or goals (if desired)

WHOLE MANUSCRIPT

  • $50 (up to 500 words) 

    Hot take: I love writing queries. I’m one of those writers who drafts a query before even starting a manuscript.

    With this service, I’ll help you craft a compelling, polished query that grabs the reader’s attention while highlighting your story’s stakes.

    What’s included:

    • Two rounds of feedback

  • Rate: $50 (up to 1000 words)

    Writing a short, clear, and compelling synopsis is every writer’s worst nightmare. I’ll help you condense and summarize your story in a clear and engaging way.

  • Readers and agents often decide within the first few pages whether to keep reading. Let’s make sure they shine.

    • First 10 pages (2,500 words) – $50

    • First 30 pages (7,500 words) – $120

    • First 50 pages (12,500 words) – $180
